Avoid excess baggage fees
Be Like Mr T.
Quick and Slick
If you are the type that may wear a pony tail during your vacation, now is the time to capitalize on that. Pull your hair back, put 2-3 different hair ties around that tail, then apply your hair clip or barrett and apply 2-4 bobby pins behind the ears. GOTTA A HEADBAND? WEAR THAT TOO, SCARF, WRAP THAT THING AROUNG YOUR PONY TAIL OR AROUND YOUR NECK. SCRUNGIES? ADD TO THE HAIR TIES. Put them all in there. Place as much as possible in your hair OR on your head as possible. Beanie, Baseball cap?? Go for it. Less items to pack.
Also, 1 gold chain, 1 silver or platinum strand and 6 charms, makes for 6 different necklaces… but then add those large beads I told you about in a previous story. BAM… you now have the makings of numerouse different necklaces…
And there is NO Shame in imitating Mr. T by wearing 7 different necklaces while enroute to your destination? Who cares? I can put two-three, necklaces on and a long, large medallion, under a shirt and another on top of the shirt… 4- 5bracelets and 3-4 rings? No problem! Less to pack, less to lose, less to untangle.. another strand or bracelet around your ankle.. Why not? ……So be like Mr. T.
You don’t need to remove any jewelry when going through airport security.
However, if you trigger an alarm going through the metal detector you might need to undergo “additional screening”. In the United States, this usually takes the form of a physical pat-down from the Transportation Security Administrator officer or a quick once-over with a metal detecting wand.
Also, wear your heaviest shoes/boots, if weather permits.
Jeans tend to weigh more so wear those instead of packing, also weather permitting. (unless it’s a long haul then jeans would be uncomfortable).
Wear your heaviest sweater onboard or tie it around your waist.
Carry a larger purse and place as much as possible in that.
Make sure to carry travel size shampoos, lotions, hairsprays, etc or pack shampoo bars, and the dry hair volume powder, also tooth powder instead of paste is less heavy than a tube of toothpaste and it doesn’t need to be sent through TSA separatly as it’s not a liquid. Use the above mentioned hair techniques (ties, barretts) instead of packing curlers/ curling irons. Check to see that the location you are staying has a hair dryer.
Why risk the baggage fees and why start your trip by throwing your back out while heaving your bag in the over head bin?
Be like Mr. T…. wear all your jewelry/scarves and hair accessories in flight. Then they won’t be tangled upon your arrival. Enjoy a week or two of many variations of looks and styles at half the weight.
