Polymer Clay Jewelry-

Approximately 5 years ago, I checked out a small boutique in my community and stumbled upon these.

Curious, I purchased a few, later a bunch and since then, I seldom travel without them.

Versatile? Yes.

Lightweight? Unless we’re talking cotton balls, there is nothing more lightweight in my suitcase.

Fun? You bet!

Start off with a bail of your choice- I chose a silver one…. This is the anchor for all your pieces. Then interchange the pieces to match any outfit. If you are someone who has fun with the big, bold, colorful look as I do, then this travel trick is for you.

I invested in the bail, then a few beads and continued to add new polymer pieces.

Later, while on a trip, I decided to add those same beads to a simple set of plain hoop earrings; creating a new look using the same items!

From this, To this…

I have also worn the bail alone for a classic subdued look! Nice with silver stud earring and simple elegant silver bracelet. I have since kept all of them in my carry-on for a quick swip/swap, no hassle, lightweight, accessory.

My smart-packing travel savvy friends, today I share it all with you.

So in conclusion, one needs a few polymer pieces to match potential outfits, one bail, some beads for balance, one black, gold, or silver necklace, either fabric or chain and simple thin hoops of your choice. The possibilities are endless. As they say, ‘let your imagination run wild’. Polymer jewelry, beads and bails are all over Etsy… so have fun!! Support independent artists. Or for those more talented than I, pieces could possibly be made at home. Your craft stores and You Tube have loads of ideas. What a creative retirement project. For a little pizzazz and color.. check out my travel trix for this month…Polymer Pieces. Go big, Go bold, or Go Plain….. JUST GO !!

Below are 8 polymer pieces ( total 5 ozs.), 6 beads, 1 black satin necklace and 2 gold hoops for a week long trip in Key West. I carried all in a small black velvet draw string bag, just tossed in my carry-on. No tangles and nothing to get chipped and lastly, they are not too expensive and easily replaceable, which is a key when traveling. Never travel with valuables or items that can be nicked, scratched, easily broken. It’s just not worth it. Have fun, be carefree, enjoy the journey.
