Heads Up Desert Dwellers
Hey there desert garden newbies,
It’s time to pull.
If you are new to desert gardening please be advised that the palm tree babies are sprouting all over the valley. They are a cute, shiny green, one strand, sticking straight up at about 4-7 inches now.
Palm trees are basically weeds, with small root balls. And they will grow just about anywhere, very easily. Requiring little care or maintenance until they are 16 feet or more tall then they’ll require trimming of their fronds. So, unless you want a palm tree to grow in that spot, then now is the time to simply pull it up and out. It’s quite simple, no major tugging or tool necessary. You can do it with your fingers.
