Let's Get Tanked
Smart women travelers know that this little item right here is something no woman’s suitcase should be without.
A polyester and/or spandex, sleeveless tank, preferably with a round or scoop neck, in a solid color such as navy, black or dark brown.
Here’s why:
First off, no wrinkles and you can fold that thing to the size of a cell phone.
Then there is this…
Arrived somewhere unusually cold and unprepared? No problem, so easy to layer with tanks…. Use one under the blouse or over the blouse or use two, one over and one under at the same time.
Chilly on an airplane or train? With a tank in your purse or carry-on you can pop into the bathroom and put the tank on either over or under whatever you are wearing. You’ll be so glad you did. (And don’t forget that wrap mentioned in another post)
Tanks are practical in a warm environment worn alone or as a lunch/dinner top and cute under a sweater or blazer
Perfect when used over a sports bra for hiking or any sporty event.
I’ve also seen them worn over a tight turtleneck or long sleeve shirt.
2 tanks, worn one over the other, are cute with shorts or a skirt and then the tanks can be exchanged and reversed later to make different looks throughout the trip.
Forgot your PJ’s or brought PJ’s that are too hot/heavy? Well, Sleeping in a tank is comfortable and the material won’t wrinkle!!
Another dinner/lunch, a few days later? Again, use any tank under a different jacket, blouse or sweater. Your choice as to whether you
· tuck it in
· switch it up with a different pair of slacks or a skirt
· add a belt
· tie the bottom together in a fun rose knot placed either in front or to the side
· maybe add a huge fun necklace.
** BAM ** you have the makings of another outfit or two!
A dark color allows for a little spot or stain while traveling… but… it can be rinsed out and hung to dry overnight or dried with a hairdryer if it is rayon/polyester or silky.
I suggest a scoop neck because while scooped on one side, usually the back neckline is higher. This means you can turn it around from front to back, add a scarf, a necklace or a sweater and it will look completely different.
I believe bright colors, patterns and turtlenecks make a statement so people will remember them. And that’s all good. But if you find yourself with a shortage of things to wear, or you just like to change things up, then a solid color tank is your answer. People won’t remember the navy tank topped with different necklaces as much as they will remember the pink/red flowered tank you wore 2 days ago.
They are easy to find, comfy and not expensive. They are feminine, fun, flexible. The common traits of the smart-packing, savvy, lady traveler.
So if you are planning to spend your retirement exploring the world or simply taking that bucket list trip of a lifetime, remember your journey will be less hassle with a light weight Rolla board suitcase, packed with as little and as versatile as possible. Definitely find a suitcase with wheels, preferably the 4-wheeled spinner, to save your back from stress and strain. So, go on, grab a light weight dark tank or two and play it up…
Did I mention that a tank doesn’t wrinkle?
Have fun.
