BOOK NEWS

Autumn 2022

It’s been a busy summer for the Hunnel’s at the base of the Sierra Madre Mountains.

Joyfully, I’ve been compiling stories about the common house gecko; abundantly well known in the greater Southwest United States and throughout Mexico.

I’ve been working almost daily on the stories, the art, and translation, to produce 3 books, one for age 2-3, one for age 5-6 and one for age 8-9.

All books will be available in both English and Spanish.

The Spanish books will be used as a fund raiser by organizations in the villages of San Antonio Tlaycapan, Ixtlahuacán, Chapala, Ajijic and San Juan Cosala. Those villages are all located in the state of Jalisco, MX. The funds raised; as well as the books, will be used as gifts for village children during the Christmas Holiday. While the work is all my own, I am appreciative of the good challenge I have experienced working alongside some creative artists and linguists.

The books are cute, easy to read and will assist with vocabulary and comprehension. It is my hope these silly books will increase a child’s love of reading.

The books are meant to teach all who reads them about the beneficial (albeit annoying and noisy), little house Geckos. Presale is available by contacting DannetteHunnel@gmail.com but mailings will not occur until early November 2022.
